What is an AcuGlow® Facial?
AcuGlow® is a high end facial rejuvenation system that combines acupuncture, essential oils, gua sha, facial cupping, and LED light therapy to tighten skin, reduce wrinkles, and restore skin health naturally. AcuGlow is a natural alternative to Botox® or surgery. AcuGlow is rooted in the Traditional Chinese Medicine techniques of Gua Sha and cupping, this practice aims to stimulate the production of collagen and elastin, promote microcirculation and encourage cellular metabolism for a smoother and toned skin. 

What Makes AcuGlow® Facials Unique? 
The AcuGlow facial protocol and TOMA products were designed by acupuncturists. The philosophy of seeing the skin as a reflection of what is happening in the body and thus treating the underling root cause of imbalance with acupuncture and holistic skin treatments creates a unique facial experience unlike traditional facials and more invasive skin treatments. 

Gua Sha
We use a bian Gua Sha stone to treat the face, which is used to eliminate toxins, reduce inflammation, and lift and tone the skin.

Facial cupping
Very small facial cups that are soft and gentle on the skin are also used to pull the skin away from the deeper layers of fascia. Facial cupping is similar to muscular cupping on the body however it does not leave a mark like the larger cups. Facial cupping or what we call "octopus kisses" are used on fine lines and wrinkles to relax muscle tension, stimulate collagen production, and strengthen the skin and connective tissue of the face. 

LED Rainbow Light
LED light therapy which stands for light-emitting diode is a half moon shaped light device that is placed over your head to provide a non-invasive infrared light treatment for the face. The LED Rainbow light we use emits a variety of colors options to treat various skin issues such as  acne, fine lines, and wounds. It can also be used on the body for inflammation and pain. 

• Red light: Stimulates collagen production, reduces rosacea, fine lines, and promotes wound healing

• Blue light: Kills bacteria and helps to reduce over production of the sebaceous glands

• Cyan Light: Perfect for aging skin, acne treatments, and increasing collagen

Who Can Get an AcuGlow® Treatment?  
Acuglow® is for everyone looking to improve their skin health. It is safe for pregnancy and those undergoing fertility treatments. It is NOT recommended for individuals with facial fillers like Botox or silicone injections, individuals who have recently received chemical peels, Microdermabrasion, threading, Rhytidectomy, Blepharoplasty, Brow or Coronal lift. LED Rainbow light is contraindicated in pregnancy.

AcuGlow treatments are 90 minutes long. A traditional acupuncture treatment will also be incorporated into an AcuGlow facial for added benefit and to help enhance the effects of the session. If you have any questions about AcuGlow and you, please call or email us before booking!

​When you receive an AcuGlow® Facial at Roots Acupuncture Center, we use high quality products from TOMA Skin Therapies. All products used during the facial are clean, natural Bioadaptive Botanicals that work with your skin to achieve homeostasis.
